Services
The services at our library are created for our local needs and evolve over time based on how well they serve our population. Our services are personal, support teaching and learning for all, and are as flexible and convenient as we can make them. First, we focus on great customer service because our utmost goal is that you get what you need and secondly, we want you to feel comfortable coming back.
1. Professional Help
The Hillgrove Library supports all stakeholders ~ students, teachers, professionals and our community. Our services are dynamic and flexible, as we adjust our program to meet whatever needs our patrons have. While we are willing to assist anyone in any way, we find that our professionals have service needs unique to them. Below is a list of examples.
* We provide professional development courses (this past semester we offered the Microsoft Certified Digital Citizenship course).
* We collaborate with teachers to co-teach classes or simply help them with new lesson ideas or help to organize different learning assessments.
* When given a topic, we help teachers find resources to use in their lessons.
* When electronic resources are not enough (yay for books!) we assist in selection and deliver books directly to the classroom.
* Lamination, cutting and die cut services can be requested.
* For those working on advanced degrees, research and citation help is offered.
* We've got a blog just for teachers, covering topics we hope will be helpful or interesting.
* Instruction in technology tools is available, and we often coach people through using new products.
* If someone has a product they want, and doesn't have the ability to make it happen, we lend a hand getting it done.

3. Reading CultureWe think books are pretty awesome here at the Hillgrove Library and do our best to keep our collection in the minds (and hands!) of our students and staff.
* We get staff involved with the use of "I Read" tags and "What I'm reading" signs. They are posted in classrooms and offices around the building. * Book Quotes are shared via our Remind group and posted on the library Instagram account. * Have you read? These flyers highlight books in our collection and are posted throughout the school and classrooms. |
4. Reading programs
-We do reading promotion programs throughout the year. Described in two words? Book celebrations! We pick a theme, add personalized photos when we can, include food if possible and ALWAYS give away free books with our Text It To Win It contests.
Some of our favorites: Fall in love with a good book - the week of Valentine's Day, pick up a Hershey Kiss and a sticker Read Banned Books - Banned Book Week (or before if on break), get your mug shot Cozy up with a good book - the week before finals in December, school-wide pajama day reminds students to check out books for break Where will you read? - the week before spring finals, reminds students to check out as many books as they want over the summer break |
